David Roberts’s love for racing started with karting. At 16 years old, instead of buying a normal car like his fellow teenagers, David used all of his savings to buy a used CRG kart for $2,000 and an old Toyota truck to transport it in. He consistently pursued his passion for racing; every Wednesday after school, he would take his kart to the local racetrack and practice driving. His skills improved, and soon he began competing in professional karting races. As he grew older, he was eventually able to participate in professional motor racing. In his career as a racing driver, he has claimed victory in several racing events, including the 2016 Radical Cup, the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge Championship, and the 2019 24-Hour Series Championship.
His career took a different path when he realized he could not practice as regularly as he wanted due to the fact that most racetracks in his area were not available for daily use. The cars he was driving also demanded prohibitively expensive regular maintenance. He soon found a new love in boxing, as training spaces were regularly open, which enabled him to keep up with his desire to stay healthy and strong. Through his determination and dedication, David has been able to get his fighting career off to a great start. In the seven professional fights he has taken part in, he remains undefeated, with four MMA wins, and three boxing wins.
According to David, the greatest challenges we face always come from within ourselves. For him, his greatest personal challenge came in 2017 during an event at the Virginia Raceway. Where he was involved in a life-threatening crash. Despite sustaining severe injuries, he took the experience as a challenge to coach himself at building his mental resilience. David believes that during these low points in life, we as people face the most significant challenges.
To David, people shouldn’t dwell on the past. We all need to live in the present to prepare for the future. David recounts the many times he was injured during training sessions. But still forced himself to get up the following morning and make his way to the gym to do it all over again. By pursuing his goal of dominating the world of sports. David aims to inspire others to follow their dreams by helping them realize that nothing is impossible.
Through his hard work, resilience, and determination. David leads the way in showing the world that it only takes one’s own willpower. And drive to succeed to help one get the most out of their life. His message, therefore, is this. One should never be unwilling to try anything new like starting. A new career if they think it will enrich their lives in some way. Even if they’re already doing something that could be described as successful. Doing what makes them the happiest will ultimately be a more rewarding decision to make.
