While height does not make you a better basketball player, it gives you an upper hand, making it a top consideration. This is often a disadvantage for someone who is not that tall and still wants to play basketball, as was the case for Brock Williams. Being undersized, it took so much more for the top scorer to cement his place as many doubted his capabilities.
However, Brock didn’t let other people’s opinions stop him from following his passion. He used his speed and athleticism to his advantage, becoming one of the top players in his state at a young age. Brock currently plays Division 1 basketball at Highpoint University and has received numerous awards, including All-State, All-Conference, and Conference player of the year. He has also started a clothing brand, Brockgodummy Apparel.
According to Brock, one thing that has kept him pushing despite the challenges is his passion for basketball. Brock has loved and enjoyed playing basketball from a young age. He notes it all started with a mini-hoop bought by his mom that was placed on the back of Brock’s bedroom door. At the time, he was only four years old and would play with his mom and dad.
As Brock got older, his passion for basketball became uncontainable, and he would spend a lot of time watching Kyrie Irving, who has become Brock’s idol. Brock Williams was also an outstanding football player and, for a little while, he didn’t know which to choose between the two. Picking basketball meant he had to work extra hard to achieve his goal, especially with a height of 6’0. However, basketball brought Brock more joy, and he decided to pursue it.
Looking back, he says while there have been obstacles and many doubters. He is grateful for the love and support his family has given him. His mom and dad, Delana and Carnell Williams. Have been very supportive of his career, constantly pushing him to explore beyond his limits.
Brock is one of the few players who averaged 34ppg and 5 assists per game in high school. He has had a career-high of 50 points in a single game. And a total of 2,318 career points in his high school career. Landing him numerous awards. Brock was awarded a 2,000 ball on senior night. And has played AAU with Team Loaded NC, Team Loaded, AIAAllstars, and WACG. He has also won conference player of the year. 4x all-state and all-conference player, with his skills earning him the name Brockgodummy because he never disappoints during a game.
As he continues to thrive and build his career as a professional basketball player. Brock says he dreams of one day joining the NBA and landing more brand partnerships. Brock Williams currently has NIL deals with PSD underwear and Boosted Biz. He is also looking to expand his clothing brand and show others that no one should stop you from achieving your dreams. “People will talk, but you should never let their words dictate your future,” says Brock.
