The rock band GXTP (Guns and Toilet Paper) released their newest single “Te’Kill’Ya,” featuring Killer Mike and Santana, on October 25th continuing to make an impact on the rock world since they became active in 2022. The much-anticipated release follows the recent success of their single “Couldn’t Keep the Faith,” featuring Faris Zahid, and the release of a music video for “My Devil at Home,” featuring Sueco.
The Band’s Origins and Success Story
Formed by Jason Paul (perhaps better known as Poo Bear), Sasha Sirota, and Triple Sixx during the pandemic, GXTP originally entered the music scene with their first single, “Foresight.” However, their presence in the music world was solidified after the release of their second single, “Contraband,” featuring Tommy Lee. The resulting success of the single catapulted GXTP to #33 on US Mainstream and #12 on US Hard Rock Digital on Mainstream Rock Charts in July of 2023, and ensured that the band would keep going. GXTP followed this success with the release of “Accusation” and “Lust & Purity” before creating their debut album Smoke & Mirrors.
“Te’Kill’Ya” comes as a way to gear up for GXTP’s upcoming Sophomore album, Reloaded, which is set to be released in November of this year. The releases keep coming, giving their growing fanbase something to be excited about.
“I already feel honored and blessed to share the sonic playfield with my brothers Triple Sixx and Jason Paul,” GXTP’s Sasha Sirota says, “and now to have a banger with the legendary Santana and Killer Mike is something I could’ve never seen coming and couldn’t be happier about.”
“Te’Kill’Ya”
Working with Killer Mike and Santana, “Te’Kill’Ya” became an eclectic and genre-bending album, joining the musical styles of GXTP with two additional features that served to create something entirely unique. The lyrics hit hard and the music itself has an undeniably anthemic quality to its production. “Te’Kill’Ya’s” particular feeling is something new for the band as they grow into their second full album.
A Tradition of Humor
Of course, “Te’Kill’Ya” is a play on the word Tequila, continuing the band’s tradition of humor in their music and productions. The music video filmed for “Contraband” is perhaps the best example, parodying Tropic Thunder with toilet paper bombs reminiscent of the band’s name. For GXTP, music is a chance to embrace humor while still producing hard-hitting lyrics and powerful songs.
“I think that the fact that the band’s name is Guns and Toilet Paper, and we were able to go somewhere so fun with it with the video just like warmed my heart,” Sasha told Forbes of the “Contraband” music video. “[We] love to laugh and make people laugh, and to have put something together that is gonna bring people so much joy, it’s just fun as hell.”
Forward Momentum
The release of “Te’Kill’Ya” continues GXTP’s remarkable forward momentum, setting up for a second album with a unique sound quality and their particular brand of humor that reflects upon society. They got the idea for their name as a reflection of what the news and communities seemed to value most during the COVID-19 pandemic, after all. “Te’Kill’Ya” is already available, but Reloaded is still upcoming for November.
