In a world increasingly obsessed with trends, Lori Jenaire has always moved at her own rhythm. Her new single, “No Love In Sight,” blends classic soul, jazz sophistication, and contemporary subtlety and captures what Jenaire calls “retro-nouveau.” A style that honors the past while imagining the future.
Originally penned by Angela Bofill and Loree Gold, “No Love In Sight” held a special place in Lori Jenaire’s heart long before she ever recorded it. But following Bofill’s recent passing, the song took on new meaning. “I’ve spent many evenings revisiting Angela’s music,” Jenaire shares. “Her artistry shaped how I think about emotion in performance. This song felt like the right way to celebrate her influence and the humanity in her music.”
That humanity, raw, hopeful, and deeply needed, sits at the core of Jenaire’s version. “I hope listeners connect with the song’s message of kindness,” she says. “We’re living in fragile, uncertain times, and compassion has never been more essential.”
The track’s understated elegance comes courtesy of producer and bassist Ian Martin, whose résumé reads like a Hall of Fame roster. “Ian’s conceptual awareness made him a natural fit,” Jenaire says. “We focused on economic production with nothing overdone and everything intentional.”
The result is a restrained yet resonant performance that builds slowly, giving her voice the space to bloom. “I wanted to tread gently,” she explains. “It’s about nuance and control, letting the emotion rise naturally instead of forcing it.”
Lyrically and thematically, “No Love In Sight” mirrors Lori Jenaire’s reflections on empathy and resilience. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, she’s no stranger to the struggles depicted in the song. “That perspective shaped my understanding of what love and unity really mean,” she says. “It’s not just about romantic relationships; it’s about humanity at large.”
“No Love In Sight” also represents Jenaire’s liberation from the demands of commercial music-making. Having created for major brands and film soundtracks, she found solace in returning to something deeply personal. “This time, I wasn’t thinking about charts or playlists,” she says. “It was about honoring feelings. That freedom brought me back to why I make music in the first place.”
Looking ahead, Lori Jenaire hopes to perform the song in an acoustic, intimate setting, what she calls a “living room concert” experience. “I want audiences to feel at home, like we’re sharing something personal together,” she says. “Music should always feel like an invitation.”
Ultimately, “No Love In Sight” serves as both tribute and testament, and proof that great music exists outside of time. With every note, Lori Jenaire bridges decades, genres, and emotions. The love may feel out of sight in the lyrics, but in her voice, it’s unmistakably present.
