Reaching fame in the music industry can be really difficult. It takes something unique to resonate with the audience, and only a few have managed to achieve that feat. With the advent of social media, the industry has become overly saturated with fresh talent. Josymar is one such rising star in the music industry who shot to fame last year with his debut single “Toca No Meu Body.”
Josymar “Llay” Freire is a Portuguese singer and songwriter of Cape-Verdean and Guinean origin. And Josymar was always passionate about music. He was drawn to traditional genres like Hip-Hop, R&B, and Kizomba from a very young age. This profoundly impacted his music style, which incorporates Hip Hop, R & R&B, Trap alongside Kizomba, Afrobeat, and Zouk. He also became a vocal producer with his latest release.
Growing up in London, Josymar was a party animal during his teenage years. Along with some of his friends, he hired clubs to create venues for parties and promote his music. Back then, Josymar was part of a music band call “Exl.” The band formed in 2015, and within a year, it released its first EP single, “Vou Te Pegar” produced by DJ Waldo. The track was well-receive by audiences earning more than 2 million views on YouTube in a short time.
After the initial success of “Vou te Pegar”, Josymar released two more hit singles with the band. With the overwhelming response that the songs received from music enthusiasts worldwide, Josymar became a recognized voice in the music industry. He was given the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest Afro-Latino Festivals in Latvia. After releasing 3 EPS with Exl, Josymar separated his identity from the band to work as an independent music artist.
He started his solo journey in the music industry with his debut single “Toca No Meu Body,” produced by DJ Pausas. The song managed to connect with the audiences earning loads of appreciation for Josymar. It was also feature on “Mais Kizomba,” one of Portugal’s biggest Afro/ Kizomba YouTube Channels.
In October 2021, Josymar was invited to perform at the famous music event “The Made Of Music 3rd edition” that was held in Paris. The artist had the opportunity to perform live for thousands of fans who had watched him online. After this, he released his second single titled “No Talking,” produced by DJ Pausas, the same DJ who produced his debut single as also an independent artist. The song became a huge success that surpassed the response of his previous release. “No Talking” was feature in several popular music channels like GlobalZoukGalaxy Channel, Radio Television Timor Leste, and also Afro Music Channel, one of the biggest Afro Pop channels across Europe and West Africa.
Josymar is currently busy with his next release, “Too Much,” which is due out by 22nd July this year. The song will be feature on Qiqi Garcia, a popular music channel on YouTube with thousands of also subscribers. Josymar is working hard for this track to live up to the expectations of his fans. He is also planning to roll out more hit singles. In the future with an aim to present something new and unique to the audience with every new release.
