Killer Mike, Santana, and Sueco give GXTP’s second album killer collabs that sound like nothing you’ve ever heard.

Rock trio GXTP released their debut album, Smoke & Mirrors, in collaboration with Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee in 2023. The album was well-received by casual rock fans and more extreme headbangers alike, peaking at number 12 on Billboard’s ranking of hard rock digital releases in the US. GXTP’s sophomore album, Reloaded, continues the work with heavy guitar riffs and poignant lyrics by a trio of vocalists who could bring down the roof with their voices alone.

GXTP got their start during the pandemic. The band’s name is an acronym for two essential commodities that ran short during those years: guns and toilet paper. During those absurd and anxious times, Jason Paul (Poo Bear) took a poem written by Triple Sixx and told him it should be a rock song. Jason Paul, a prolific songwriter and producer who has worked with some of the biggest names in pop music, teamed up with Triple Sixx and Sasha Sirota to transform that poem into a rock band and an unbroken chain of intense bangers.

A Powerful Album with Stunning Collabs Mixed In

Jason Paul, Triple Sixx, and Sasha Sirota have brought in some heavy-hitting collaborators for this album. One major keystone of the album is “My Devil at Home,” which features Sueco, and it shows in the sound. A love song that takes a dark turn, the song begins with light lyrics and a bright guitar that nonetheless stirs an unsettling undercurrent. When the bottom drops out, and the electric slam swells to fill the space, it launches a new movement that intensifies its darkness. In the song’s music video, Jason Paul makes a convincing exorcist as the story of the song descends into horror.

Standout tracks from the album include the lead track “A Dish Served Cold” and “Te’Kill’Ya,” a collab with Killer Mike and Santana. This is a collaboration that you need to hear to understand. Santana’s dominant guitar work gives the heavy grunge of hard rock an incredible, unique flavor. Unlike anything you’ve ever heard, Killer Mike steps in at top form with a vocal and lyrical power that builds momentum until the final movement of the track. In its climax, Killer Mike, Santana, and GXTP bring all their best talents together in a moment that defies description.

This track is followed by “Couldn’t Keep the Faith,” featuring Faris Zahid, and later “One Race,” which features David Bryan. Each of these tracks is a unique combination of talents you won’t hear anywhere else, nestled in an album full of GXTP’s best work to date. Jason Paul, Triple Sixx, and Sasha Sirota have created a band that can switch from rock ballads to heavy grunge to power pop or classic punk, sometimes all on the same track.

An Accessible Album for Music Fans of All Kinds
