On Saturday night, April 25, the 50,000 people who showed up at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta did not leave disappointed.

Bruno Mars put up an energetic performance in Atlanta, the first of his in nearly ten years in the city.
In typical performances, artists often fall into the temptation to hide the emptiness of substance with neon distractions and digital screens. Mars’s show was raw, stripped to the bare bones, thriving only on his clear voice, a thoroughly prepped band, and a commitment to deliver the “funk perfection” that Atlanta had waited for a decade.
The show started at 9:00 PM, but by 8:00 PM, the stadium had long been filled. It was a relatively orderly atmosphere, as orderly as packing 50,000 people into a college football stadium can be. Security was tight with a clear bag policy strictly enforced. But unlike his LA residency performances, no phone-free policies were enforced. This helped the show trend far and wide before the first note was even played.
When Bruno Mars jumped onto the stage with 24K Magic, nothing else mattered because the music took over. He gave it all to the high-energy song, with the band meticulously meeting its demands for heavy bass and sharp brass.
The Hooligans worked like a homogeneous engine, delivering a synchronized precision that’s hard to attain without absolute dedication to the craft. They even added secondary percussionists to account for the needs of the large venue.
The setlist included Finesse and Treasure for 70s Funk and 80s R&B fans. After a few hours, the Hooligans receded, and Mars took charge at a gold-colored piano. The crowd was treated to a medley of Grenade and Talking to the Moon, in his raw voice without a backing track. He blended in Oh Girl and climaxed with Uptown Funk.
Bruno Mars mentioned his long hiatus from the city when addressing the crowd. But he didn’t say why he stayed away for ten years after his 24K Magic World Tour in 2016. The return felt like a homecoming in many ways, with many in the audience having secured those tickets many months in advance.
The weather did not get in the way. It was just slightly humid with a light breeze blowing through the stadium. Sound moved through the stadium freely.
Leon Thomas opened for Bruno Mars as scheduled. He set the stage for the energy that the crowd was going to get later, riding on the fame of his 2026 Grammy wins.
Anderson.Paak is also credited for the successful night. Playing as DJ Pee .Wee, he gave a strong opening and later returned during the main event. He added a Silk Sonic pizazz to the atmosphere, moving the crowd with Mars on Leave the Door Open and Smokin Out the Window.
It was a two-hour show. Bruno Mars did 18 songs with wardrobe changes kept to a minimal 2 minutes. Fans would say it was an evening well spent. The artists invested their time well in providing the audience with what they had paid for – a memorable experience.
