Canadian rapper Drake and PartyNextDoor (PND) dropped a joint album, ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U (Some Sexy Songs 4 U),’ on February 14, 2025. Valentine’s Day is a date Drake often picks for major releases. Think ‘So Far Gone’ in 2009 and ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ in 2015.
‘Some Sexy Songs 4 U’ blends themes of love, personal growth, and the pressures of living in the spotlight. Dropping it on Valentine’s Day sharpens its focus on romance and self-reflection.
Drake’s long feud with Kendrick Lamar also runs through the album. The track ‘Gimme A Hug’ hints at these tensions, showing Drake’s tough skin and deeper thoughts. This beef flared up again after Kendrick’s Super Bowl LIX show and his diss track ‘Not Like Us.’
The 21-track project, released under OVO Sound, runs over 73 minutes. It mixes R&B, hip-hop, alt rock-pop, and even touches of regional Mexican sounds. Top producers like Noel Cadastre, Gordo, Jordan Ullman, Alex Lustig, Niketaz, and Niko shape the album’s sound. Each track stands on its own.
