Judith Owen, a native American songstress, returns with an album, ‘Suit Yourself.’ Released on April 26th, it highlights her continuing journey in jazz and blues and her focus on overlooked classic tunes.
‘Suit Yourself’ is a collection of 13 tracks featuring some of the most popular songs from a variety of jazz, blues, and Broadway songbooks, performed by her. It was produced by Judith Owen herself, with ‘Inside Out’ co-produced by Jamison Ross. The album was engineered by Grammy Award winner John Fiachbach and mastered by Grammy Award winner Misha Kachkachishvili in New Orleans.
Unveiled under Twanky Records, the jazz project includes one of the biggest hits, ‘Mind Is On Vacation,’ with a guest appearance from the great blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. It’s an original Mose Allison track, and it has some pretty interesting observations on narcissism and politics. Judith Owen commenting on the song: “I just had to feature this Mose Allison classic because it talks about how things stand in politics nowadays. And I think it’s one of the greatest songs about narcissism ever penned. Smart, funny, catchy.”
