Tre Nash & Jenesis’ New Album In Tandem Embraces Creative Freedom

Rather than dictating a strict framework of sound for their new album In Tandem, Tre Nash & Jenesis chose to give the music room to breathe and evolve. The result is a blend of pop, R&B, rock, funk and soul that preserves the identity of the two artists who are known by their individual tastes.

Years of experience in writing, producing, performing, and playing instruments enabled Tre and Jenesis to see what ideas worked for each individual song and what didn’t. They didn’t force an experiment just for the sake of it. “We’re now experimenting with purpose,” Tre says.

The Willingness to Let Songs Change Direction

Their mindset became particularly important when the duo began reconsidering some of the material they had already developed. Several songs changed direction midway through the development of In Tandem, despite existing demos and an original plan for how the project would come together. Instead of treating those early versions as final, Tre and Jenesis allowed time to rethink them. “We were willing to let go of ideas that weren’t serving the songs anymore,” Tre Nash & Jenesis explain.

For the duo, that decision became less about starting over and more about recognizing what each track needed. Some ideas remained intact, while others evolved into something entirely different. The willingness to make those changes helped them avoid creating an album that felt overly planned or predictable.

Being Inspired by the Here and Now

The same impulse is expressed in the song “Desolé,” one of the project’s more spontaneous moments. Tre took the idea into the studio, and Jenesis began singing on it. There was no need to spend time determining the direction, as the artists responded to one another and let the song develop.

There was no need for either of the artists to force the process. Instead, their instincts led them to develop the song in this particular moment.

Such creative interaction is an essential aspect of their partnership. Although Tre Nash & Jenesis come from different schools of music and have different approaches to making songs, they believe in one another enough to follow where an idea takes them.

Two Songs That Pushed Them

In Tandem also served as a unique test for the two. Tre and Jenesis describe “Together, Never” as one of the harder songs to record because of its vulnerability. Revisiting the emotions behind the track required a level of honesty that made the recording process especially personal.

“Yesterday” presented a different challenge. Tre and Jenesis point to the song’s ambitious arrangement as one of the project’s creative highlights. The track grew beyond what they initially imagined, giving them an opportunity to explore a more expansive approach to the music.

Together, the two songs demonstrate the range of experiences behind In Tandem. One pushed Tre Nash & Jenesis emotionally, while the other tested their creative instincts and production abilities.

A Sound of Their Own 

Tre Nash & Jenesis’ varied influences also became an important part of the album’s identity. Pop, R&B, rock, funk, and soul each have a place within the project, but the duo focused on making those sounds work naturally rather than treating genre as a limitation. Their development as musicians gave them greater confidence in making those decisions. They now understand how their individual tastes can complement one another without requiring either artist to compromise their perspective.

In Tandem reflects the duo’s growing confidence. Tre Nash & Jenesis were willing to revise, experiment, and follow unexpected ideas when the music called for it. By giving the songs room to develop on their own terms, they created a project that captures their evolving sound while establishing a foundation for where their music can go next.
