Liverpool-based Spanish singer-songwriter Carlos Grassot takes stock of the modern world through his four-track EP, ‘Farewell The World.’
The project starts off with ‘Wasting Songs,’ which is a tough song that strikes a balance between frustration and optimism. Following that, Carlos Grassot brings in ‘We Won’t Be There For You,’ in which he calls for unity against big business. This eventually leads to the grand centerpiece of the project titled ‘The Wild.’ In this song, he lashes out on all the aspects of the world he dislikes. The last track ‘Away On The Road’ concludes with the realization that some things may never change.
Carlos Grassot recorded ‘Farewell The World’ at Crosstown Studios in Liverpool with producer and sound engineer Jon Lawton. All the songs were written by him, he sang, and played acoustic guitar, Lawton playing electric guitar. The project features Aitor Vilar on drums, Olly Gorman on piano, Andrew Foreman on bass and backing vocals from Dawn Highnett and Abby Boak. The string quartet Northern Strings is also featured on ‘The Wild,’ with the string score arranged by Pablo Sonnaillon.
