Harry Kappen celebrates refugees and resilience in his alternative song, ‘Distant Shore.’
The talented Dutch singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Harry Kappen advances in his creative path and releases ‘Distant Shore,’ a touching piece taken from his album ‘After the Crossing,’ released on March 3rd.
Having been born in Groningen in the northern part of the Netherlands, Harry Kappen creates his musical skills by playing together with various local rock bands. He gets rich experience in recording studios and live performances on the territory of the Netherlands and beyond its borders. As part of the initial experience, Kappen also produces music for Dutch radio and television, which enriches his musical knowledge.
Unexpectedly, the professional path of the artist goes in another direction because he starts studying music therapy. During more than twenty years, Harry Kappen has worked in youth care, where he uses music in order to communicate with children, their families, and other people having some personal problems. Also, Kappen lectures in the international master’s degree program of music therapy.
‘Distant Shore’ is one of Kappen’s most loved songs from his most recent body of work. This emotionally charged song is accompanied by its equally beautiful sound that revolves around the unique sound produced by the mellotron. The production is an ode to one of the musical idols of Kappen, David Bowie, whose legendary song ‘Space Oddity’ was used for inspiration.
